ABOUT LAST NIGHT
performed on:
This was an actual song, a midtempo rocker, that was performed regularly in the first half of the Information Tour. Parker has called it "bland and worthless." Nonetheless, it was among the songs demoed in 1990 for the SMILES project. Unmoved by the studio interpretation, Parker synchronized the tape -- sort of -- with a psychedelic instrumental called "Where is My Soda? It's in Hell!" and removed the vocals to create what was to be the hidden track on the 1991 double album.
But of course, when Epic insisted on the album being split in half, the song was, for whatever reason, removed from the running and showed up as a b-side even though the name of the instrumental album ended up being SODAS IN HELL.
The vocal version has not been released.
Last night I said these words to myself
"If life was what we came here for
Where's the place in the street
Where I can be at my best?"
And today all I could think about
Was last night
Last night I stepped into a shop
The people there all looked up
They stared with dead, cold eyes
And I just went back out the door
And I can't stop talking
About last night
What's living for?
What's living for?
Last night a girl looked in my window
She was wearing violet overalls
She was wearing violence
I didn't have sex last night
But it seems like I can't get away
From last night
