AMONG US IT LINGERS

Although it was performed nearly every night in the first year and a half of Plaastik's existence, this strange gospel-and-Prince hybrid, with Nick singing falsetto, has not been pulled out of the archive since the fall of 1981. The song was recorded in demo form at the band's first session but the only versions that have surfaced on bootlegs are poor-quality live performances, a cappella with hand claps. One very early show adds what sounds like a piano; distortion is so heavy it's hard to tell.
Nick has said that the song is "the worst thing ever written" and has begged that the lyrics not be reprinted. Here they are:
Maybe if you tried sometime you'd understand
Why I'm lying in the moonlight, rolling in the sand
I still can't settle down now and I've been dead for years
So while you ignore the world and drink your beer
I love, I dream, I bleed, I'm a singer
The world you can't see, among us it lingers
