BED

The replacement for "The Blowoff System" on PROJECTION CONSISTENCY was rejected from the previous album due to feelings that it was "too anthemic" due to its "Hey Jude"-like buildup. The band liked the song enough to try to make it conform to the album, stripping away all instruments except drums and an acoustic guitar toward the end. In the end it didn't make it and was saved for later use. The Albini version is the one released on the compilation and the "Chill Bumps" single. Mitch Easter, who was assigned to record the new cuts for the compilation, did record a version of "Bed" along with "Chill Bumps," "Down with Your Motion," "The Blowoff System," "Distant Memory," and "Cloud" on the first day of sessions, but all work from that day was scrapped when Christina and Mitch joined the others.

Don't want to touch you
Let's just go to bed
You told me the truth
Thank you for the truth
Now don't talk to me
Don't want to hear it

We won't fight anymore
Let's just go to bed
We won't kiss anymore
Don't know what to say
But maybe there's silver
To be found in all this
Too late to find out yet

Don't want to kick you out
Let's just go to bed
Had so much invested in you
Why did you let me down?
But let's not discuss it
Let's just go to bed
