BUT THEY'RE HAPPY
performed on:- INFORMATION TOUR (1987)
- SCIENCE TOUR (2001)
"But They're Happy," the opening track on Plaastik's fifth LP, is the one instance on the album of a song for which the original demo recording was used, its raw, stabbing electrofunk fully intact. This decision was made after a full band stab at the track just didn't work, according to some band members. Nonetheless, the expanded lineup played the cut frequently on the Information and Science Tours. The demo has been overdubbed, however, to sound fuller; the drums were added at the last minute.
Look at the fools
They walk across the road
Without a glance behind
They climb a tree
Without a tape measure
Hopeless and lost
But they think they're happy
Mad and disabled
But they're happy
Happy happy happy
Happy happy happy
I'm here, I'm aware
But they're happy
