CATCH ME
performed on:
This is one of those songs which remains something of a mystery. What we know is that it has been performed live only six times, all in mid-1983, and the last time only half of it was through when Nick Parker launched into "Should Can Will" instead. It was among the songs demoed for NO PARKING ANYTIME and, because the production on the "Child Actor" single is credited to Stephen Hague, the studio recording is probably from the sessions for the first album. There, indeed, is no evidence of a Mitch Easter recording of the song existing. However, if this song was prepared before, why wasn't it used when the band was in desperate need for b-sides for the first three Geffen singles? This song, a fairly typical midtempo rocker credited to the entire band, has never been discussed at any length in interviews, so we'll have to keep wondering for now.
drifting, drifting again
long ago you said you'd take me in
can I still be here?
falling, falling again
if I fall to your arms where you stand
will you catch me?
catch me
catch me
catch me
catch me one last time
another year gone by
nothing's changing again
the lights flicker the same way
I think I'm gonna stay
catch me
catch me
catch me
catch me all my errant days
