Ticket sales on the Information Tour exceeded the expectations of everyone, and when it became known that Plaastik owed just one more album to Geffen, a modest bidding war began that eventually resulted in a battle between Geffen and CBS for the band. In the end, Plaastik ended up going with CBS subsidiary Epic, who offered "the best deal." The next Plaastik album was immediately postponed in favor of a greatest hits compilation.
It has two new songs, "Chill Bumps" and "Bed." "Bed" dates from the DINOSAUR DISTRIBUTION FIENDS sessions and its slot was intended, supposedly, for "The Blowoff System," but that song's inclusion was eventually aborted. "Blowoff" was recorded along with "Chill Bumps" at a two-day session with MR. EVIL BREAKFAST producer Mitch Easter. On a whim, on the second day Plaastik invited the two extra band members from the Information Tour, Christina Singleton and Mitchell Blank. The difference was astounding to all concerned and akin to what had happened when Jeff and Jay were brought back in to the Albini sessions. Singleton and Blank were immediately crowned new members of Plaastik, marking the first lineup change since 1980.
Geffen wasn't pleased with Plaastik's move, but they were glad to have a best-of to promote, and it sold very well, hitting #13, although the single "Chill Bumps" tanked at #88.
