Janet Kieran had always wanted a showstopping rocker to sing, like "Thumbtack." The band conceived this electrifying one as a vehicle for her most primal vocal stylings, and it works brilliantly, the pregnant intro almost bleeding with anticipation for the orgy of sound that follows. One of Plaastik's very best rockers, this one has guitars that will send you into oblivion. Most remarkably, the intro and outro are all done on Janet's guitar. No, I'm not making this up; she even did it in live versions, one of which was released as a single to promote NOT UNPLUGGED. An incredibly raw demo of this track that appeared on the "Everything You Are" single manages to make the LP cut seem tame by comparison.
I remember once spending
A bank holiday in Brighton
All I did was get up
And walk out
AND KICK
AND KICK
AND KICK OVER
A few chairs
That nobody was sitting in
Yeah heard it in my grand
Parents' living room
A walk to the ditch with the simple machine
Bridge over ditch
WILDERNESS
