This is the song that gave birth to the idea of an acoustic set on the 1994 Diplomacy Tour. "Distant Memory" premiered in the last two months of the Information Tour and was invariably performed acoustically, usually between two unkempt rockers. The studio version is stark and a bit eerie, but otherwise is the same save for the vocalist: On tour, it was sung by its author, Nick Parker; on the album, it's Janet Kieran on lead. Another fan favorite, this was at one point slated as the second single from the LP. A new mix had even been completed but was scrapped in favor of "Left."
