I DON'T KNOW

performed: never

Christina Singleton's first solo contribution to the band ("Pool" and "Cabinet" were written afterward) was extremely well received by the others, who went all-out, spending weeks tweaking the master recording and declaring it the unquestioned choice for first single. It is a very accessible and seductive recording, with some astonishing Spanish guitar and a thrilling sax break. However, Singleton agreed that Sony deserved sabotage after what they did in 1990, and this song was one of the sacrifices; instead of becoming the first single (and it would surely have been a hit), it was used as a b-side. The band was so unhappy over the situation that they virtually forgot about it and have never played the song live. With Singleton out of the group, it appears that they never will.

the way the kids talk so cool
is an outta sight thing
but can I walk like them?
I JUST DON'T KNOW

when you walk in the room
the people and furniture change
can I win your heart?
I JUST DON'T KNOW

when I started my work
it seemed so easy
why is it so hard now?
I JUST DON'T KNOW
