DOWN WITH YOUR MOTION
performed on:- INFORMATION TOUR (1987)
- SCIENCE TOUR (2001)
Of the four songs under consideration for the Diskobox soundtrack project, only this one had been performed by the band already. It debuted six nights into the Information Tour but was kept in the set for only three shows, its drum/keyboard-heavy arrangement something of an anomaly. (Kevin Keys, according to one report, hated performing it because it is such a task on the drumkit.) A different arrangement was tried several months later, this time with both Kevin and Jay on percussion to beef up the drum sound, but it disappeared afterward and, never exactly a favorite, was only pulled out for Diskobox in desperation.
The Diskobox recording used the newer arrangement, which featured very little programming. The original electronic-oriented version returned at the 11/19/01 show on the Science Tour. The band seemed a bit labored during this performance; impression seems to be that it just doesn't work... It appears unlikely that this song will ever see an official release.
You're a freight train
You're a racecar
You're a monorail
You're a passenger jet
And I'm down with your motion
You're a city bus
You're a helicopter
You're a horse and carraige
You're a Mercedes
And I'm down with your motion
You're a taxi cab
You're an elevator
You're a convertible
You're a fucked up chick
And I'm down with your motion
