FAMILY VALUES (THE THREE BROTHERS)

performed: never

A return to the studio experimentation of early Plaastik, "Family Values" is the excised bridge section of "Food" played backwards in a loop with some eerie and extremely complicated harmonies wailing Nick Parker's silly hyperbolic lyrics all the while. The vocals are performed by the Harlem Boys Choir. The only other overdubs are a bass guitar by Nick and bongos by Kevin Keys. Janet Kieran has accused Brian Eno of "taking over" this recording.

This is my rock opera.

Once there were three brothers
Who couldn't tie a knot
So they called their mum
She came across the room
And showed them the door

Alone in the night
Things began to change
Little Brother found himself
Older Brother shot a deer
And the Middle child just cried

Through the years when
Two of them became
Middle class executives
I caught them once
But they didn't know me

They called their mum
To show them the way
Little Brother sat alone
Older Brother played some golf
And the Middle child fired and fired

Three different time zones
Three different worlds
