For reasons unknown, the lead vocalist of "Heated Routine," Kevin Keys, has called it "Plaastik's gay anthem." Whatever the substance of that claim may be, it's another extraordinarily versatile song that has been played in countless different arrangements with nearly every other member of the band taking lead vocals at least once. The studio cut, though obviously edited, is a gem, Janet alone on electric guitar while Kevin sings for the first half before they are joined by the remainder of the band in the bridge.
