HURT ME

performed on:
Without the demand for new and "top-drawer" material presented by the Hugh Padgham project, it's likely that the new wave-derived "Hurt Me" never would have been recorded by Plaastik. Nick Parker had not so much as thought of the song since its last performance at one of the earliest Plaastik shows in 1980. But at the sessions, the band fell in love with it, and it's been played at nearly every show since. (Some of the lyrics were rewritten for the album.)

baby, it's cold outside
but it's way too warm in here
I can't shake this strange feeling
you've made me part of some frontier

a martyr, I never was
and I guess you'll see why soon
you hold me then you hurt me
like the phases of the moon

so c'mon, baby, hurt me
honey, yeah, hurt me again, make my heart race
hurt me DEEP INSIDE
you know the scars they never heal

yeah that's right, you just hurt me
you hurt me 'till I bend, then put me back in place
like the rising and falling TIDE

your sinful secrets run amok
but I know you wish I didn't know
all I can say is, sugar, don't push your luck
we're in this together, a friend and a foe

so c'mon, baby, hurt me
honey, yeah, hurt me again, make my heart race
hurt me DEEP INSIDE
you know the scars they never heal
