This odd song is unusually anthemic for Plaastik, with power chords and a slow buildup. It was only played at a few shows, all in 1980. Its out-of-nowhere release did not result in a live rebirth. It's possible that the song came up in a studio jam as a result of the DISTRIBUTION FIENDS outtake "Bed," later released on PROJECTION CONSISTENCY, which has a similar (and also very uncharacteristic) fadeout. However, it's not certain that "Spraypaint" was recorded at the FIENDS sessions with Steve Albini since it carries no priduction credit whatsoever, and it seems doubtful that Albini would have approved of this song's power ballad-like production. For now the track remains a mystery of sorts... it seems that only Nick and Janet appear on the track, with the bass rather obviously coming from a loop of a preprogrammed recording.
Before you do it
Just remember
You've got your life
Ahead of you
You don't need
To show anybody
You don't have
an agenda
Before you do it
Please listen to me
