NACHOS (IT'S LIKE)

Greil Marcus called this banjo-driven dance song an "elegant barcode stomper." It's launched a hell of a career; although Nick Parker, at the time of the song's recording in 1980 the only member of the band, would rarely reach in the dance-music direction after this point, he made a clear impact here. The song was especially popular in Europe.

The long out-of-print singles include seven remixes, the most notable of which features Parker pretending to be a redneck.

Live, "Nachos" was at first an exercise in electronic noodling and headbanging, but by the time of the Goldfish Tour the band was using an actual banjo, plus live bass and percussion, and sometimes fleshed the song out to seven minutes or more. The vocals were almost never bothered with after the first few shows.

It's like nachos.
