A fan favorite despite its more-than-passing resemblances to the beloved "Vinyl," this continues FORTUNATE SMILES' unorthodox path. With its deliciously grotesque lyrics and muffled electric free-jazz insanity, sounding often like a Mancini soundtrack run amok, this is one of the shortest, best, and most insane cuts on the album. On the Diplomacy Tour, the band couldn't work out an arrangement they were happy with, but they did try it at the November 19, 2001 show, to much fanfare but not much enthusiasm for the result. It seems to be a very "studio" kind of song.
I told ya bout the thumbtack
I got another story
I got something else driven into my head
I got nails nails nails nails
The man beckoned me into his room
He said "sit down and I'll make you some tea"
I should have known something was up
He was clutching that hammer the whole time
He kicked me, tied me to his chair
I'd just wanted some lovin'
But I wasn't gonna get it tonight
I was gonna get nails nails nails nails
He took out his bag from True Value hardware
Showed me the screws and nails he bought
The wrenches and pliers and screwdrivers
Then that really nice hammer of his
He took out a nail and positioned it
Right next to the part of my hair
Laid it down gleefully, then hammered it
Shot me full of nails nails nails nails
This continued for much of the night
Till he got bored
And I had twenty nails in my skull
Drool was pouring from my mouth
My brain was kinda there
Kinda not
Then he put on some Skynyrd
And for the first time ever
For the first time ever
It sounded pretty damn good
Nails nails nails nails
Nails nails nails nails
Nails nails nails nails
