ONLY IN THEATERS

Plaastik has never gotten tired of this classic, one of Nick Parker's first songs, rewritten from an early composition called "I Put Potato Chips (In the Refrigerator)." It's rare that three shows go by without at least one roaring performance of this song. Although the thudding funky arrangement has never really been altered, it's infused with new energy every time it's played.

The group had misgivings about putting it down on tape up to this point... they considered it a sort of connection with fans at their live shows, a secret of sorts, but with the band set more than ever on never touring again, they let this one roll out. Happilly, it's a wonderful version, and its existence (and showing on the charts at #38) did not keep fans from loving the song as their own. The song actually should probably have gotten higher... but the video, which is the band lip-syncing in a tiny box on the screen surrounded by blackness, couldn't have helped much.

my sista wants to know if there's some money i could lend her
and my dad stole my mint condition copy of defender
every single day i get into a fender-bender
and my new mother-in-law is a sexual offender

my problems... coming soon to a theatre near you

the sea of tunes cd only has one song from friends
but the 'noble surfer' outtakes, man, you know they never end
they deleted 'pet sounds', said it ain't down with the trends
instead capitol just put out 'endless summer' again

my problems... order now and get fifty cents back
my problems... coming soon to a theatre near you

adam & eve said they don't accept no c.o.d.s
wal-mart's comin' to town, they're gonna cut down all the trees
some fucker busted my car windows, but at least i feel the breeze
my girlfriend threw a lamp at me and screamed "WHAT ABOUT MY NEEDS!?"
