REDNECK TRUCKER (ROADKILL TOOLBOX COACH)

performed on:
Musically, this song is the most explicitly suggestive of the direction Plaastik would take on their next collection of songs. It's derived from a studio jam in which an organ and two guitars ending up hitting virtually the same note in an extended drone. This was recorded, fortunately, and Parker recorded his largely spoken-word vocals on top of it; a house beat is largely regarded as extraneous, and Stephen Hague's addition of a corny synthesizer and strings -- actually a sample of a Ventures song -- mar it somewhat, but it's still more of an advancement than most of the NO PARKING ANYTIME material. It also was impossible to pull off live and has only even been attempted on stage twice.

Supposedly the mix was "hotly debated" between the band and producer, but there was no serious fight according to Hague. He says the band eventually came around to his viewpoint. Hague actually receives writing credit on this song since it was a jam; he was playing the organ.

When I was in high school
Them were the glory days
I ran around the track fifty times
Instead of going to the orgy
When it started gettin' heavy

My coach, he was a redneck trucker
He told me he had a dead body in his truck
I always liked dead bodies
So I asked to see it, yeah, asked him to show me

We walked around the track fifty times
Then we went to his truck
In another world
In another time

He had a toolbox, it was red, stained with blood
Opened it up and there it was
Carcass of a raccoon
Blood pouring from the orifice
Smashed and miserable

He looked at it and laughed and laughed
He said its name was Petey
I gazed into his psychotic eyes
And I put my tongue in his mouth

We walked around the track fifty times
Then we went to his truck
In another world
In another time
