The ultimate de-evolution song; what once was a coherent rocker, "Skateboard Shithead," takes it slight ska and dance influences to an extreme, resulting in a lot of session players playing brass over a looped sample. For live performances, Jeff learned to play the trumpet while the others gave it a more conventional "Shithead"-like arrangement; the sample was only audible at the first performance.
Much of the change occurred in the studio; it's commonly believed that there are dozens of alternate takes lying around in which you can feel the song coming apart with only the smallest of ingredients to remain.
