TIRED

This lovely pop tune with a lead vocal by Janet and excellent full-band harmonies is a bit of a throwback, melodically similar to "Oil and Water." It was written in the old form of the full band minutes Tina Singleton, the "first time in a while" according to Jeff Jooce that the band had written a new song in the usual jammed-out style. "Tired" was the second song attempted for CHILD at the first rehearsals in late 2002; the original bass/keyboards performance producd by Singleton is used on the album (but remixed with other tracks added), one of only three surviving performances from her part of the sessions. There had originally been a retake made subsequent to her departure, but it was scrapped after the record was sequenced to strip the song down and improve the cohesion.
Fans have not been receptive to Nick's lyrics for the track, widely accused of pretension, but the song was a highlight in a full-band arrangement when played live in 2005.
so much to be sorry for
got skeletons in the closet
they never rot away
gotta seal off the closet
can't afford the damage
but I'm so tired
wanting so much in there
still in love with the time
not speaking to the past
can't get it away
can't leave it behind
but I'm so tired
of what I can see from my bed
always got the feeling
like you're always right
like you know you're right
can't I know I'm right someday?
I'm so tired.
of what I can see from my bed
