TO KNOW HIM IS TO LOVE HIM

This single was actually the first Plaastik release on Capitol, released around six months before this box, but it is included here because all three of its tracks originally were recorded exclusively for PINWHEEL BLOOD BOX. When a copy of the creepy Phil Spector cover leaked to a radio station, a firestorm resulted and it virtually had to be acknowledged as a piece of mass appeal. Capitol couldn't have been happier. John Carpenter ended up using it in his latest film, WHAT'S YOUR BEDTIME?; this resulted in the single release, thus denying the boxed set of the only previously unreleased material it was to have. (In reaction the A-side was removed from the tracklist. The song was a #1 hit and therefore it didn't seem to fit the "obscure" title.) Eventually a video was made and the performance was nominated for an Oscar... but at the ceremony, instead of actually playing the song as they were supposed to, the band ripped into a thrash version of Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing."
