WAIT UNTIL DARKNESS
performed on:
Heavily-distorted LOVE demo with lead vocals by Nick (harmonies by Janet) is similar to the Beach Boys song "Let Us Go on This Way." It's one of the least-liked songs on LOVE, though live and later studio versions have been embraced. Nick request in a 2005 interview not to be asked to discuss how the lyrics relate to his personal life.
A full-band studio version exists on the single for "Rose," along with a more finished demo on the maxi for "Ex." Nick played the song solo with an electric guitar in an "angry version" in 2005.

you can mold me 'cause my heart's made of clay, yeah
and then we'll spin around all careless and gay, yeah
then the next day I got dues to pay, yeah
I'll stay home alone and out of your way, yeah
while the bluest skies all turn to gray, yeah
while the bluest skies all turn to gray, yeah
and i'll wait until darkness hoping for the strays
